ICONZ IPSTAR Satellite Internet Troubleshooting Guide (2)
NOTE If you have a router or any other device on your network that sits between you and the IPSTAR terminal, you should check with your normal IT person / network administrator before completing any of the following steps.
On your computer, click on start, then open the control panel.
![]()
Double click on the icon labelled 'Network Connections'.
![]()
In network connections, find the 'LAN or High Speed Internet' heading.
![]()
Below this heading, there should be an icon named 'Local Area Connection'.
This may say one of several things next to it:
Local Area Connection - Connected, Firewalled
(If it's not Firewalled, don't worry about it - the main point is that it's Connected)
![]()
If this is similar to what you see, click here
Local Area Connection - Disabled, Firewalled
If this is the case, it means that the Local Area Connection on your computer has been disabled. To enable it again, right click on the Local Area Connection icon, and click Enable. Once the computer has finished enabling the connection, the Internet connection should work.
Local Area Connection - Disconnected, Firewalled
or
Local Area Connection - Network Cable Unplugged
If this is the case, it means that your computer is not detecting your IPSTAR terminal. Check that the terminal is connected correctly to the computer, and that the cables are securely in place. You could also try restarting the computer and the terminal. If this problem persists, there is likely to be a problem with:
- the network card on your computer
- the network port on the terminal
- the cable connecting these devices.
As a testing measure, you could try using a different computer, or a different cable (if these are available to you).
New Ethernet cables can be purchased from any decent computer hardware retailer (eg. Dick Smith). If you are connecting your computer directly to the terminal, you should take care to purchase a 'cross-over' Ethernet cable, rather than a 'patch cable'.
If you have any doubts or questions about the problem, or you suspect there is an issue with the network port on the terminal, feel free to give our Technical Support Team a call on 0800 843 638 (option 3), and we'll be happy to help.
