Cloud Computing
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is old but new! Think of the 70s when PCs were nonexistent and larger companies rented time on mainframe computers and you are close to what we know today as ‘Cloud Computing’. How long the ‘name de jour’ stays with us is anyone's guess but one thing is for sure, the technology itself will continue to offer companies great hosted server solutions well into the future.
Cloud Computing is a collection of pooled computing resources in the form of CPU, disk space and memory; each made available to users on a pay as you go basis. On top of all the hardware is a virtualisation or ‘hypervisor’ layer that manages the server resources. Simply really!
ONE HOSTING SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL
The ICONZ VERSA Cloud hosting service takes scalability and flexibility to the next level. From years of experience we have learned that a ‘one size’ cloud hosting solution does not always deliver the best result. 90% of web applications live perfectly well in the ‘shared cloud’ environment but it is the 10% that need that special care.
The ICONZ VERSA services have been specifically designed to meet the most demanding and challenging of business needs and web application software environments.
Not all clouds have silver linings
Not all Cloud hosting providers use the same computing technology, resulting in dramatically varying levels of scalability, reliability and performance. Our HP & VMware Cloud hosting platform uses genuine, purpose-built HP Blade server technology coupled with VMware (the industry's premier virtualisation software), to control server resources.
PREMIUM HARDWARE
We utilise multiple HP Blade enclosures which contain up to 16 Blades per enclosure. HP Blades are servers that are mounted vertically which allows more units to fit into a smaller amount of data centre space, resulting in energy savings.
WHEN PERFORMANCE COUNTS
Our storage arrays employ fibre channel disks connected via fibre optics which are the fastest disks in the world today, and the best way to connect storage devices to Blade servers. Read/write bottlenecks encountered when using classic VPS (Virtual Private Servers) and physical dedicated servers are now a thing of the past.
WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK
With today's increasing emphasis on mission-critical business systems, 'Data Backup' and 'Disaster Recovery' has emerged as an essential and important tool for unhindered continuity and robust development. For ICONZ VERSA customers with little tolerance for performance impact and then need to eliminate backup windows, the ICONZ VERSA Backup Suite provides the ultimate peace of mind.Done.
